Hmm…We all know that owning a dog is not an easy task at all. It means that sometimes you’ll need to cancel your meeting or not be able to go on a weekend trip. However, there’s nothing better than knowing there’s someone who will always ‘keep your back’. There’s one dog breed that’s desperately asking for human’s companion. Yap, that’s right! We are talking about French Bulldogs!

This lovely breed doesn’t require much exercise and it’s considered for number 1 apartment dog in the world. When we are talking about their world ranking, Frenchies take the high 4 th place in the USA and the 1st place in the UK.

These wonderful potato dogs rarely get nervous, which makes them the kings of chilling! They love attention more than an outside walk. However, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to take your dog outside at all. It means that your Frenchie simply requires less exercise than other dogs, and would rather walk through the house and beg for attention. That’s their way of living!

Precisely because of these facts, French Bulldogs were, and are still considered for great companion dogs. If you’re considering buying a Frenchie, it’s important to find out all the pros and cons before making a final decision.

Pros:

Kids lovers

These gorgeous bat-eared creatures act great with children and are able to keep them entertained for a long time. Due to this fact, Frenchies are otherwise called clown dogs. As well as children, French Bulldogs have easygoing personalities. They are a great fit for children of all ages, and will definitely provide an unforgettable childhood.

 Great protectors in tiny bodies

French Bulldogs belong to a Molosser group of dog breeds that are known for their guard abilities. They are considered for a very loyal and protective breed,  and despite the fact for being small in size, they pretty much know how to deal with danger. This implies that you also need to appropriately socialize your Frenchie from the young age.

Grooming demands

Unlike other dog breeds, Frenchies don’t require much grooming. Since they’re prone to allergies, frequent grooming may remove their natural skin oils and make them more sensitive. However, we recommend you to find a soft haired brush to keep their coat shiny.

The laziest dogs on Earth

If you’re kind of lazy person who would rather spend time watching movies and eating popcorns then go running, French Bulldogs will totally fit your personality. They don’t require much exercise and can’t stand being outside in too hot or too cold weather. Frenchies enjoy ball chasing and playing with kids, and it’s not necessary to take them out more than twice a day.

They’re quite “silent”

Unlike other small dog breeds, Frenchies don’t bark much. However, they produce all other types of noises. They snore, grunt, and like to ‘talk’ to their owners, and will bark only in case of danger.

 Friendly buddies

Although it might sound strange, French Bulldogs act very friendly with other dog breeds. You must admit that this fact is also not so common to other small breed dogs.

Cons:

They’re prone to different health issues

We admit that this fact may change your opinion about owning a Frenchie, but on the other hand, they’re the cutest dogs on Earth. Their elongated soft palate makes them prone to suffer from different breathing issues, and unable to cool down in warm weather conditions.

Despite this problem, they may also suffer from different allergies, hip dysplasia, and several eye conditions. That’s why is always advisable to check a dog’s health history before making a final decision. Buying a dog from a trusted and recommended breeder is always a better solution.
